Camino Frances day 15: Calzadilla de la Cueza to Sahagún (22,6km)

I slept perfectly for over seven hours, but I woke up completely exhausted. The ten km running and abs training later in the evening completely took away my strength. It felt like I hadn’t slept at all.

Walking was extremely slow from the first step on. Usually the day starts with such energy and fast-paced movement. Things did get a little better after seeing this “Don’t stop me now” sign a little before sitting down in a café on the side of the road for a long breakfast. My feet were already hurting from just 6km. That is when I knew I needed to make this into a rest day and not push myself too hard.

I stopped to rest in every village and thankfully there were many close together. Slowly gathering my strength, I made it to Sahagún (halfway point of Camino Frances!) where Itsuki and Naoki were staying as well. Together we went into town hall square to a restaurant named “Luis” which served a really delicious pilgrim dinner with some of the best chicken I have ever had. Definitely the place to go to eat.

Also, I had the chance to finally visit a supermarket and get more travel food. It will be good for another three days now. Hopefully, tomorrow I will be able to walk like normal again. The good thing was that I could rest my body and concentrate more on work.
