Camino Frances day 23: O Cebreiro to A Balsa (23,4km)

Today was extremely foggy. Moments when you could see even a little further ahead were rare. It was also raining for most of the day, so it’s my favorite weather for hiking.

Nevertheless, I liked going through two small mountaintops and numerous small villages on the way downhill. There was always a nice local cafe with fresh food and hot tea waiting for you if you need one.

Since I didn’t walk that far, I was able to finish the day with dry shoes. Didn’t feel the need to push myself in this difficult weather on mountain roads.

I dived deep into meditation while walking and realized several key insights about myself. There is still way more for me to discover about myself than I ever could have imagined. Like how I react and feel in certain situations, what are the root causes, how to recognize these situations in the future and what the desired course of action is.

The original plan was to push much further through the forest, but this small local vegetarian albergue called El Beso is just amazing. Most people working here are volunteers from all over Europe. The place is super eco-friendly and all the food is made from organic vegetables grown in Spain. I haven’t had vegan food this good for a long time.
