Camino Portugues day 7: Caxarias to Ansião (29,0km)

I met familiar faces again! The three Australian ladies from day 2 and 3 were staying in the same village tonight. We went out for some Italian food to kill the extreme hunger that comes with hiking.

Today went really well. I am so proud of myself for learning different techniques to bandage my toes. It made a big difference. Some basic Portuguese expressions learned from Google Translate are really paying off when talking to locals.

The journey today was really easy to handle. I love how well the feet are adjusted to long distances now. My first week and I did over 205km. It’s a good benchmark to start with.

Now, that I am almost out of the mountains, it is time to push some distance. I visited the pharmacy today for some Compeed to make sure my feet would not give in to the road. Soon the mental challenge of the Camino should begin, since physically 30km a day starts to feel fine (which is completely bonkers to think of it).

I really appreciate my journey and experiences so far. Could not have hoped for a better opening week. Right now, I am very motivated. Porto should be reached in no time, Santiago soon after.

I love Portugal.
