Camino Portugues day 19: A Guarda to Baiona (34,3km)

Today I had a lazy morning and slept well. I had my accommodation for today booked ahead for the first time on this trip. There were only two people left out of thirty in the albergue. Within four hours, I hiked 18km and caught pretty much everyone with my speedwalking.

The second part of the day I took carefully because of some pain in my legs. The long journey starts to slowly destroy me. I will need extra strength still to continue for a little over a week more. Have no plans to slow down, but will keep the distances under thirty if possible.

It was really cool to catch up with the slovak girls and hike the rest of the day with them. It’s fun to hike in a group. Takes all the pressure away from long distances.

We went out for dinner and explored a bit of the village of Baiona. The first time I spent the evening walking like a tourist around the area this Camino. Before, I had focused only on eating, stretching and massaging my feet.

Slowly I am making plans for my trip back home. I have not bought tickets back home yet, but I can easily predict the rest of the journey now. Looking forward to seeing friends, family and colleagues. I miss working with my brain.
