Camino Portugues day 20: Baiona to Vigo (25,5km)

Life is sometimes as interesting as this field of cabbages – nothing really to do or look at.

Today the road is split into three options: villages with cabbages (normal route), mountain road +5km and city streets by the ocean +3km. My right foot was still hurting, so I chose the short route.

I did get to enjoy part of the mountain route, which was super cool. It was mainly used as a mountainbike trail, so there were several cyclists flying past me. I really like the forests in Galicia region. They relax you completely.

Near Vigo, I got to see what a Peugeot-Citroen factory looked like. In 2 minutes I already got a massive headache. It’s a huge industrial complex with like a hundred buildings. The neighborhood is filled with these boring block panel buildings. Vigo is definitely one city I would not like to live in. I did my own shortcut, 3km through a park to avoid the majority of the city. The park felt nice at least.

Tomorrow I plan to have a shorter day. The pain in my right foot muscles is getting worse. A lot of tension is building inside. I discovered that my backpack was giving slightly more pressure to the right, so for tomorrow I shifted it slightly left.

If the foot doesn’t get better, then I see no point in pushing myself past Santiago. I will decide on my plane tickets back tomorrow evening.
