I was following a trail along the mountainside overlooking Ria de Vigo (Vigo river). Mountainbikers must have loved it too, because they were constantly on the road.
Because of sharp pain the last two days, I was very careful about my right foot. I walked extra slow today. Shifting the weight of my backpack to my left foot helped tremendously. If needed, I will just walk shorter distances and/or even slower, but nothing will stop me from reaching Santiago.
I booked airplane tickets back home today. It will be enough time to visit Santiago and do an extra hike to Finisterre. I am not sure how this all will play out, but I am keeping myself optimistic.
In Redondela, both Camino Portuges trails meet again. Some weird main route pilgrims aim to reach albergues more than two hours before they open. I have no idea why those pilgrims start hiking at 5am just to sit on the street for two hours later in the day. Sounds stupid to me in +16° weather.
The main thing I have noticed is the number of cyclists on the main Portuguese Camino road. The ocean alternative was a bit flatter and +25km longer, so pilgrims usually avoid it. I personally loved the ocean alternative route a lot. Totally recommend it to any pilgrims going north from Porto.
My main focus moving forward is to make sure my feet feel good while hiking. I did plan out the next 7 days, but will see how it goes one day at a time.
