Camino Portugues day 22: Arcade to Briallos (27,2km)

I started doubting the whole reason for walking in the morning…

The road was just so crazy boring. Everything looked the same as I have seen for many hundred kilometers now. Feels like it takes something impressive to add flavor to yet another hiking day by foot.

I would love to go cycling in Estonia right now in the countryside. Something about the nice cold wind breeze seems to be missing in my life. Maybe I just miss the ocean.

Thankfully, the city of Pontevedra was an eye-opening experience. At first, what seemed just like any other city, quickly turned into a pilgrim-focused old town. There were streets named for pilgrims, statues, a square in the old town and much more. Even stores on the shopping street started to make sense.

I used the opportunity to grab food from the grocery store, since I knew that the albergue today had absolutely nothing nearby. There is a bar downstairs that seems to be just collecting dust. It was so different walking with a few extra kilos in the backpack, but my legs held up great today.

After Pontevedra, the road became a lot of fun; constant slow elevation uphill and roads running through forests. So many fresh water sources too. I love drinking mountain water!!! Much better stuff than what they throw in plastic bottles to sit on shelves.

I am so close to Santiago that I can’t believe it. I am considering pushing the whole way tomorrow or at least until my legs start failing. Feeling very optimistic!
