First I would like to thank Pilgrims Oasis Food Truck for coming all the way in the middle of nowhere every day to bring joy to pilgrims. It is a hard 12,5km stretch without any shade from town to town. Relaxing in a pop-up rest area with cold drinks and warm food available is simply divine. The cafe itself opens many kilometers away in Viana once the owner drives the truck back.
This day has been great in many ways. I went to see the wine fountain near Irache. This time it even had wine inside.
Did not try it tough, but it was fun anyway.
After the wine fountain, I switched to an alternative route which went diagonally up the hills on the opposite sides of the highway to the main route. It was a really nice hike. Having a forest for a change and walking on soft soil felt very blissful.
A few kilometers after connecting to the main route again, I was at the food truck in the picture. This truck was in the middle of a stretch that last time I called Dantes Inferno. This time I had a smile on my face for the rest of the hike.
Even in Los Arcos, it was hard to feel like sitting down and getting a rest. My heart was pulling me back on the road and before I knew it, I was already finished. Evening stretching and foot massages are really paying off. Even mid-hike recovery time is getting faster and faster.
It is getting more comfortable on the Camino, but I will not add much extra distance to daily kilometers. I think I have found my sweet spot now. Plenty of time for everything including maintenance after hiking. Do not want to ruin a functional daily routine.
What is most important – I am healthy and plan to stay this way.
