Camino Frances day 8: Cirueña to Belorado (28,62km)

Woke up early to be at what promised to be a great breakfast place in Cirueña. Closed 15minutes after official opening time (opened like an hour after that). I was not going to wait, so I walked to the next village. Again, everything closed. Finally, in Grañón I got some food. It tasted horrible, but at least it was kind of edible.

Once I had finally seen food, then I assumed the day would flow nicely. Instead, just before reaching Redecilla de Camino, I got a sharp pain in my right foot. Most likely, my shoelaces have constructed movement in parts of the foot and I made the shoe feel somewhat looser. It got me worried that I might be close to my limits or slightly over them.

A quick decision was made to take this day very slowly in every town. I wanted to be absolutely sure my feet were cool and my socks were dry. I was taking everything off foot at every village bar on the way. Locals are fine with it although very few pilgrims air their shoes/socks during the day.

The end conclusion is that I walked one village less than originally planned. No big deal, right? Actually, it complicates the next 5 days of walking. I had a solid plan of daily distances in mind. Catching up to it does not seem reasonable right now. The next five days are 30+, of which two in a row say thunderstorms. Anywho, it seems that the plans will not work for a while.

I am what the road makes me.
