Moonlight for the first time this Camino! I saw each stone on the trail even without a flashlight. The view from the mountain down to the villages was spectacular at night.
I reached Triacastela at the bottom of the mountain and there was heavy fog welcoming me. Had a little powernap next to an ancient chestnut tree that looked like a horror movie and then off I was again.
I did not take that many pictures today. Some moments are best just to enjoy yourself without any electronics. But still there was plenty of hill hiking all day after the mountain. I reached Sarria surprisingly fast and decided to take a longer break and finally decide on where I am going to sleep tonight.
From Sarria, 600-1000 pilgrims start daily and they pretty much do only the main stages. I saw that in the afternoon there were many people continuing to walk. My assumption was that by the time the next village municipal albergue opens, I would not get a bed anymore. There was another municipal albergue option several villages later. What makes these albergues special is that the Galician government has forbidden any kind of booking and these places are only served in a live line.
For me it was important to have a guaranteed booking today, so I walked extra far. The last 7,5km were not easy in the sense that it was +31 outside and every 2,5km my feet got so hot that I needed to sit down in the shade for half an hour and air feet + shoes. I made it to my destination without new blisters or injuries. Not completely sure this time if my feet will be sore tomorrow or not.
It has been nice talking to brand new pilgrims that started in Sarria in the afternoon straight off the train station. Saw an Italian guy again who started two days before me. It is the fourth time we have met on Camino over the last two weeks. Nice to see a familiar face every now and then to just ask how they have been doing.
