Camino Frances day 25: Salceda to Santiago de Compostela (27,09km)

My app says 765,16km distance for the hiking trail. The local pilgrims office wrote 779km on the certificate. No idea what the exact distance is, because by going to restaurants, cafes and albergues I did a lot of walking. I did not mark them down. Anywho, my average daily distance is around 31 kilometers.

My first Camino, I walked the same route and it took me 27 days to complete. This time I did it in 25 days (the norm is 35 days)! Glad to see that there is always room for improvement.

The walk itself today was very smooth. Did the first 20km without breaks. I even met one Sarria pilgrim again, that I saw start 2 days ago. Apparently, he is a Camino veteran and spends at least one week on the trail every year. He was not sure how many times he had completed the trails so far, but he did not plan on stopping.

The last 7km into the city was really nice. You can see a big church in the city already from 4km away. The place was really crowded today because of a public holiday. My emotions were sky high, all good ones, of course.

Its nice to be back, but even better to go onwards.

Now I will make daily plans for the next 12 days of hiking. Tomorrow will be just 21km and if I can, then the rest of the days will not be much longer.

I will now go to an ocean fishing village called Muxia and will also see Finisterre lighthouse like I do every Camino (so far). This will total a bit over 900km of hiking. Crazy!
