Camino Frances day 27: Negreira to Santa Mariña (21,28km)

I started hiking extra late today to make sure there is plenty of sunlight. Nature is now quite actively making changes and it is a delight to see.

I even took the alternative route by tiny rivers in the morning. Have never been there before because it adds a bit of daily distance. Afterwards, some clouds you can see from the right could get closer and closer. Right after taking this picture I realized that these obvious rainclouds should be above me very soon.

It is the first time I have started running this Camino. Yesterday there was already enough rain for me. The nearest village was a bit over 2km away and I knew there would be a bar where I could get cover. I ran all that way with the backpack and then saw that the clouds were just passing over without anything more than mild mushroom rain.

That little running experience reminded me that I used to run a half-marathon at Tartu Citymaraton every autumn. Both of my feet are in great condition, my knees work just fine, I do not have any more excuses not to take part. Will have a month to get into proper running shape after the Camino is over. I have already bought the ticket.

I finished hiking in this lovely little dairy farming village named Santa Mariña. Overall, I see that pretty much all of the villages in Galicia are for dairy farming. Corn growing is maybe the second most common, but far behind cows. What makes Galicia really special is the constant presence of forests and it is nice to see that locals and the government are constantly putting in new trees to grow in areas that have been either harvested or damaged by fire in the past.

Galicia will continue to stay green and hikers happy.
