Last night, the albergue was really good, but the mosquitoes were constantly attacking. With barely six hours of sleep, I set off a little before sunrise.
The roads went really fast. Although the total elevation challenge was what I did every day, the trail itself was very simple. Having no sun all day helped a lot too. I finished the day way faster than expected and then had a huge nap. Sunday is a little tricky when finding food in the evenings though.
The highlight of the day was definitely Luarca. I had no expectations about the place, had not really heard anything of it before. It was a mix of an old coastal city with semi-modern housing. The views on both sides of the rivershore were what made it special. From the opposite shore, you can also see the ocean.
I did use the good old changing socks around lunchtime trick to keep my feet as fresh as possible. Additionally, I did a lot of small breaks before finishing the day. There was no need to rush as I had to time it with my check-in. Right after checking in, I just dozed off on the bed.
Having a private room in a hotel is way more expensive, but at least there are no people or mosquitoes disturbing you. The next 3 nights will be again in albergues. After that, let’s see how things go.
As I was finishing today, rain started to fall. Over the next days, rain and even thunder are quite likely to happen while hiking. Still, it felt good to complete a long day of hiking once more.
