I had an extra day before the flight, so I decided to see the familiar old lighthouse. I have hiked to all the past Caminos. This time I simply did a bus roundtrip.
It does feel a bit more complete if you have nothing but the ocean everywhere you look. I travelled hundreds of kilometers along this ocean coastline. I thought it would be only appropriate to spend my last full day here.
Coming to the lighthouse has been a great tradition, but I also see its time to build new traditions. If I get too attached to the past, then I am limiting my own growth.
This will not be my last Camino. The trail of Camino Norte is definitely the most challenging one physically. I am thinking of switching mountains for a desert challenge.
My next Camino will be the Via de la Plata, 1000+km going north from Seville. The elevation there is quite flat in the long initial desert section and runs on soft surfaces. I expect many old distance records to be broken.
Watch out for Spring 2024!
